In a slightly different look, a good friend of mine and semi professional rugby player will do a weekly guest spot looking at all things Rugby. The first post will go up today and will look at the forthcoming Lions tour of South Africa. Equally if anyone else has ‘expert’ knowledge of any subject area that may be of interest then drop me a comment / twitter/ email.

The Lions
2009 Sees the British & Irish Lions tour again, the best players of our local 4 nations will this time travel to face the current World Champions South Africa on a 10 match tour culminating in a 3 match test series with the Springbok national team. On the way they will face local and provincial teams who always hope to get that memorable scalp and take out a few players with them to soften the Lions up for the test series. Following a dismal 2005 tour to New Zealand where the Lions faced a rampant All Blacks and were whitewashed 0-3 in the test series, new head coach Ian McGeechan and his team are looking to return the tour to its pre-professionalism roots. With a smaller squad and a bigger emphasis on teamwork. The tour kicks off on 30th May where the Lions will face a Highveld XV at Royal Bafokeng, Rustenburg.

Youngsy, What do you think of the 6 nations so far? Will Wales get the Glandslam?

6 Nations is looking very exciting this year. Wales are the team to beat at the moment, highlighted by the fact that I have selected mainly Welsh players in my backline for the Lions tour, I think they will make it a second Grand Slam in sucession but they could get turned over by the Irish, who are playing some good rugby at the moment. Hopefully England will avoid defeat against the French & Irish but it will be a very hard task!!

My friend and I are always chatting on the way this blog has gotten much better over time. I like reading what you have to say and although I’m mainly just a observer and never make comments, I decided to take a step out of my norn and thank you for the well written articles that you release. I just wish at that you would take a little more time and break down in detail some of the things you state because the average Joe probably wouldn’t comprehend.
