Sometimes an invention comes along that is so simple, you just sit back and say ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’. Well the BioLite Camping Stove and Home Stoves are just that. And not only are they great products, they were thought of by what seems amazing guys as well!

After two years in making and testing, we are pleased to say the BioLite will now be shipping in 2012. Now this isn’t your average stove, and for two main reasons.

Firstly it doesn’t use usual expensive and environment harming gas canisters. Nope, instead it uses any flammable biomass. This could be wood, twigs, branches, pine cones, whatever you get your hands on. This gives two main advantages that we can see. 1. less to carry, no fuel or anything, you just need to find something you can burn when you get there! 2. the environment, no harmful gases being burned into the atmosphere and no empty cannisters blocking up landfill sites. Win Win!

The second, and possible most interesting feature. Is the fact it is also a power source. Yes A POWER SOURCE! Using the heat, the stove actually generates electricity which can be used to charge any USB device, including your smartphone, or used to charge USB lights and the like. Quite cool hey?

Now there doesn’t seem to be much information on how long it takes to cook food, or boil water (we are sure pressured gas must burn hotter) or on the amount of power you receive from say running it for 20 minutes. This is disappointing, and makes us worry a little but we are sure it will work great guns and this will be a re-sounding success.

Not only is there the portable BioLite Camping Stove, they have also produced a Homestove as well. No, this isn’t for your flat (though I guess it could be!), but aimed at helping third world countries who use open wood fires. Over 1.6 million people die from wood related smoke death each year, and as the BioLite cuts smoke emissions by upto 90% it is sure to be a huge success when pilot schemes are launched this year.

The camping stove is very cool to look at, and it is tiny! Just 8cm high when packed! You can pre-order now at $129 each (for the portable camping stove), and then the products will be shipped on first come first served basis over the coming months.

For more information, please do check out the BioLite website, or watch the humbling video below.

Beauty comes in many forms, but for the first time, could it be in a smartphone? Kieron-Scott Woodhouse and the team at ADzero hope so with their new Bamboo Smartphone.

Made from four year old organically grown bamboo specially treated for durability, it should be pretty much as tough as your usual plastics. Details are very scarce at this stage as you might expect but it will include a camera, and unique ‘ring flash’ which surrounds the camera’s lens to ensure even illumination and minimises shadows.

Currently it seems the handset will be approximately half the weight of an Apple iPhone, yet with a larger screen and running Android. We are promised the bamboo smartphone will be made from as many sustainable resources as possible but whether this will be true in production, we shall see.

After the recent media love, the phone will originally be launched in the UK, before being tested in other markets. No word on release date or pricing yet, but don’t expect it to appear in every day high street stores. We expect (and hope) it will be limited to boutique shops and quite a sort after bit of kit.

Now beauty may be one thing, but we just hope this phone also manages to have the hardware and usabily to back it up. Failing that, they could just make iPhone covers…. But we can’t wait to get our hands on one.

Your iPhone battery has died. Again. The painfully dark screen with the picture of the power and the plug feels patronising and incredibly inconvenient. Hardly surprising that these phones run out of juice on a regular basis though. Even for those of us that take good care of them notice that they don’t seem to last a full day any more! And if you have a 4s, Siri is an absolute killer – and whilst you may want to show off to your friends that you can ask your phone where to hide a body (if you haven’t, try it), the battery is long dead and you can’t fix it when you’re out and about. The solution to this, when out and about at a festival, days out or holidays, has always been the magical power pack option.

Third Rail is the latest innovation in a rather stale marketplace. Battery packs either come tiny and ineffective, or bulky and unattractive. This new system looks to turn this on its head as well as add some new functionality.

When I opened the box and saw an iPhone case as well as a battery I was a little perplexed, and the instruction book seems quite complicated given that battery packs are just plug in, turn on and off you go right? Well that’s not the case here (no pun intended). The case is sleek and pleasant enough, and doesn’t add too much to the dimensions of the phone. The bottom connector is no longer the typical apple socket, but rather a mini USB. On the back there is a shiny patch and a 3 pin connection.

The battery slides in to place on the back when you fancy using it, ensuring that it is out of the way if it’s not required. The connections involved don’t use wires, but a locking 3 pin connection that allows for seamless transfer of power. The functions of this battery don’t end there. There is also an out socket on the battery, so you can charge other devices from a USB cable. In addition, you can stack batteries on top of each other to provide more charge for your phone or other connected devices. Very handy!

However what is it actually like to use? Each battery, after a bit of breaking them in, can provide a charge of up to around 55-60% of my iPhone 4 battery. Of course, charging other things at the same time severely diminishes this. It isn’t a quick charge either, taking quite some time to fully transfer the power from the battery. However it does a job pretty well and doesn’t get in the way much at all. When out and about, its is quite hard to notice and the weight in my pockets was definitely barely different, especially when I had the battery detached and stored elsewhere.

So what’s the good and what’s the bad?

It is innovative, its breathing some fresh life into an area of the mobile world that needs it. It allows you to charge lots of things at once and use multiple batteries. It looks good and doesn’t weight much at all. It provides a handy cover for your iPhone that standardises the connection to what so many other devices uses. The best bit is obviously the ability to charge your phone out and about: roadside accidents, holidays, festivals, days out and any other time when your iPhone has died from mere regular usage.

On the other hand, the case severely limits your ability to use the phone with normal docks or accessories you already have and you’ve got to remove the phone every time. The battery, when attached, can be quite obtrusive and hard to handle. The battery only gives 5 LEDs as an indication as to its level or charge. Not to mention 60% extra battery power is hardly ground breaking, though it will get you out of a jam. More batteries = more bulk.

However, given its competition, the Third Rail is definitely leading the pack in originality, functionality and aesthetics. They don’t come cheap though! The case alone retails at £29.99, with the battery at £49.99 or of course a combo at £69.99. You can grab them over at Amazon now!

Oh, and try to avoid testing the third rail pin system by licking it – it gives quite a bit of a tingle (don’t ask me why I did it, I just did).

HTC commandeered the Camden Roundhouse for the launch of their brand new Goliath: HTC Sensation XL. The XL lives up to its name in more ways than one, and it wasn’t just your run of the mill tech launch event, oh no, this one literally took over the whole of London with anyone and everyone in attendance.

Not only were the likes of Will.i.am performing, we spotted global superstars Lady Gaga and Cheryl Cole rocking up through the back doors! We also managed to get some time with world renowned DJ Martin Soelvig so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks.

Check the pictures below, including a few snaps of competition winners.

Original
Yes, the current tech world may be clamouring at the iPhone announcement (which we are pretty sure won’t be an iPhone 5) but it was actually HTC who first announced an event this week. The HTC and Beats Audio event.

Now rumours are still rife with what will actually be launched, but the smart money says that the new HTC Sensation XL will be there, though according to our invite email, we have access to ‘all devices’ which may suggest more than one…

The HTC Beats Party will be held at the Roundhouse in Camden, London this Thursday, 6th October.

Not only will this be a media circus, it will also include some of the hottest acts and DJs the world currently has to offer, including:

Will.i.am

Nero

Fedde Le Grand

Martin Soelvig

Dirty South

Zedd

Now, you can’t buy tickets to the event, it is strictly guest list only and competition winners. And we are pleased to announce that we have 5 pairs of tickets to giveaway!

The problem is, we don’t have long. We have literally 24 hours to run this competition, so we had to make this easy! To win head over to the Average Joes Blog Facebook page. Click like (obviously) and view our wall. See it? Now all you need to do is find the post that says;

‘Want to come to HTC & Beats Audio Party with us and Will.i.am in London this Thursday?! Just click like and put your name and the name of your + 1 below!’

We will then close the competition at 16:00 hours on Wednesday 5 October (tomorrow) and message the winners!

Don’t worry if you don’t win, you will actually be able to watch the gig live from this site as we stream it! So just bookmark this page and come back here Thursday at 7pm! Yes we will be streaming the whole HTC Beats Party live!

Good luck!

Between us we’ve had 10 in a row and this was, quite possibly, our last music festival of the year. Thanks to HTC, it looked as though we may very well have saved the best for last. Creamfields has already earned a reputation and rich history in delivering the best dance music to a festival environment. The 3 night, 2 day event in Warrington looked set to be pretty stunning this year, yet again pulling in the biggest and best names in house, trance and general dance music from across the globe. Festivals these days seem to want to cater to a wide audience and age range, from folk music to children’s entertainers and metal to outdoor theatre, often all packed into one festival. Creamfields, however, is unashamedly direct and forthright: you’ll get dance music and it’ll assault your every sense for the duration of the festival.

Every sense? That’s right. We saw it on the stages and in the arenas, we heard it everywhere from the toilet to the tent, we felt the pounding bass, we could taste it in the air and you couldn’t escape the smell of damp excitement. The line-up was also as over the top as my description above, with names of great DJs who had presumably only just flown over from Ibiza for the festival.

The Chemical Brothers, Calvin Harris, Mark Ronson, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Paul Van Dyk, Example, Ferry Corsten, Joris Voorn, Eric Prydz, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Jaguar Skills, Katy B and Magnetic Man… To name but a few who turned our heads prior to the festival. When we got there, they didn’t just turn our heads, but controlled our bodies, with fantastic tunes all day and night long. It wasn’t easy, of course, with so many people to see and so many tents and stages, there was a lot of running around.

The highlights certainly turned out to be the Chemical Brothers (obviously), Magnetic Man, Joris Voorn and Swedish House Mafia. Having seen the Chemical Brothers at the Big Chill, we decided to catch Tiesto first and then swap half way, and this proved fortuitous as we caught two of the best acts of the weekend. Example was also on top form again, this being the third time we’d caught him. Whilst our highlights may seem to be the obvious picks, they were the people that really got into the crowd and made them jump and dance for hours on end in the miserable weather. Being able to make people smile and dance whilst they are soaked through to their very bones and suffering the risks of hypothermia, speaks volumes of their collective ability as much as the great atmosphere their music inspired given the conditions.

It rained. Boy, did it rain. When we got there on the Friday night we set our tent up in the rain. When we woke up and had breakfast the next day, it rained. It rained that afternoon and in the evening. The sun shone early on Sunday, but it was only teasing and the rain came back by mid afternoon. It even rained when we packed up on Sunday. But, in spite of all of this rain, the mud it churned up, the mascara it made run, and the white tops its made opaque, everyone was loving it. And rightly so, it was an amazing weekend. This was also the most secure festival we’d been do – every bag was checked and every body frisked. No glass whatsoever. At V in Chelmsford the previous week a group of us strolled right through with no security in sight! This just meant that after a slower entry, we felt all the more safe and secure, and could really devote ourselves to debauchery and magnificent music.

And we weren’t just there giving it all to the music. We were given a shiny new HTC ChaCha to test in the ultimate of social situations. We certainly put it through its paces, tweeting, posting to Facebook, uploading and downloading photos and sharing as much as we could whilst we stormed through the weekend. So what did we come away thinking about it?

Well it certainly is a tool for the socialite! I’m already a big fan of it’s friendship stream, a standout feature for me. This combines your various social media feeds together in one simple place and makes keeping in touch that much easier, especially with the ability to share across all of the platforms in one go. It’s also got a full qwerty keyboard which gives it a sort of blackberry feel that so many professional types are addicted to. You can also fully customise the display, so we put the weather forecast up (a depressing site) and selected our favourite apps to surround it. And to top it off, it has a dedicated Facebook button that pulses at you when you are on a picture or a page that can be shared at, literally, the push of a button. No need to copy and paste or select the photo from an upload tool.

This was my first experience using Android as well, having been a dedicated iPhone user for the past however many years since I picked up my original iPhone. Whilst the user experience isn’t the most fluid and seamless, the functionality is most definitely greater. It also didn’t drop any calls over the weekend, something I have bemoaned since I picked up my iPhone 4 on release day. However, whilst it was great to be able to keep you all updated so quickly and easily, it drained the battery faster than a sailor does his pint on shore leave. It needed charging at least every 24 hours (if not 12), but to be fair, I was really putting it through it’s paces. And if you are a popular sort with lots of tweets and updates, the small screen means a lot of scrolling in order to keep up without missing anything someone might have said.

It’s a good phone in general. A great phone for staying in touch with friends. And the best phone I’ve taken to a festival. But I am not entirely sure if its going to be the beast that wrestles me away from the clutches of Apple.

It’s a date in the diary we all forget, alongside mother’s day, birthday’s and anniversaries. Well, lets face it, we forget most dates in the diary. Consider this a warning that the date is fast closing in on us all. Time to rush out to the nearest card shop and pick up something that’ll satisfy the old man…

If you’re anything like us, you may want a few hints and tips as to what to get him, other than that amusing card that pokes fun at his grey hairs, his tight wallet or his obsession with cars and football. In which case, we have compiled as comprehensive a list for inspiration as is possible:

- razors – get him shaving again

- beard trimmers – if he won’t shave it, at least make him trim it

- hair dye – the grey hairs won’t just magically disappear

- power tools – the classic gift to sit in the shed unused

- socks – standard gift but readily shunned by the recipient

- ties – if he is still wearing them avoid pretty patterns and cartoons, simple is best

- cufflinks – easy gift, but make sure he owns shirts that required them

- an umbrella – this is England, it will get plenty of use after all

- a bottle of whiskey – convince him to share it if you’ve really splashed out

- beer – grab from the service station on the way home

- gadgets – that he can’t understand and refuses to learn how to use

- a bowling ball – its just random enough to confuse him into thinking its great

- a dart board – when he’s drinking he needs a target to throw pointy objects at

- money – tell him to spoil himself, then ask if you can borrow some cash

- books – some people like to read, and if not, books make great kindling

- t-shirts – avoid ones with offensive slogans or images… if possible

- shirts – try and bring the old man into modern day fashion

- pants – lots of older men don’t wear boxers (not that I go round checking)

- vouchers – he’ll give them to the wife most likely since he isn’t much of a shopper

- an experience day – that is likely never to get used

- gardening stuff – a trowel, a spade, hedge cutters, some plants… a chainsaw?

- a mug – another classic that’ll get chucked with the rest you’ve given him each year

- dinner – this would mean spending the evening with him though, are you ready?

- Swiss army knife – a great gift, but he won’t be able to get any tools out of it!

- CDs – since they aren’t quite up on mp3′s, but have moved on from cassettes

- sporting goods – they need the exercise, lets be honest

- golf related stuff – separate to the above as its hardly real exercise

- wine – easy if he is uneducated, costly if a connoisseur… willing to gamble?

- a corkscrew – because the wine you bought needs to be opened somehow

- hip flask – so he can drink everywhere now

- marmite – does he love it or hate it?

- key finder – so he can whistle to find the keys he’s lost… in his pocket

- Viagra – actually, that’s a terrible gift to give your father! Shame on you.

- slippers – tell him he is a feckless layabout these days

- dressing gown – same as above, but can’t even be bothered to dress either

- after shave – Old Spice? Whatever you buy he’s unlikely to wear it

- a satnav – because he never asks for directions

- DVDs – because war documentaries and old football matches never grow old

Any more ideas? Share them here or with us on Twitter…

You may remember our post on the iPad 2 being an anti-climax. The tech world held its breath for March 2nd when Apple were finally set to unveil its new and updated tablet computing device, only to leave underwhelmed at what they deemed to be fairly minor upgrades to components. Just to recap what was new:

Dual-core A5 chip – set to give the device faster computing power

Front and rear cameras – bringing HD video recordings and FaceTime to the iPad

33% thinner – 0.16 inches thinner and just a shaving smaller in all directions

15% lighter – now just 1.33lbs

Smart covers – magnetic and foldable, automatically turning it on and off

iOS update – AirPlay and AirPrint

Video Mirroring – with the adapter, you can mirror your display on a monitor, tv or projector. Admittedly, this works for the original iPad too

In review of these, they don’t add up to much do they? No. They don’t. Not when you consider what the competitors are packing into all of their devices at the moment, particularly those with memory card slots and USB input. However, I have always maintained than apple makes devices for use, not for technology experts, and so the proof of the pudding really is in the eating (please note for legal reasons, you cannot and should not attempt to eat your iPad).

I’ve had my iPad 2 for over a month now. I had the first generation iPad as well. I have an iPhone and have had previous models of them as well. I am a fan of some apple products but would not say that I love apple and worship Steve Jobs like a god. I hate Macs, for example, and have never owned an iPod. This is my disclaimer, in a way, to let you know I’m not going to just heap praise on Apple because they’re Apple. So a month on – what do I think, and what do I think you should know?

Well, my iPad 2 never leaves my side. During my day job I am capable of logging in to my remote desktop and working anywhere I go courtesy of 3g connectivity and wifi – even over 3g it is surprisingly fast and helpful. I get the pleasure of using my windows system this way. The Citrix Receiver app is what makes all this possible, but if you’re not using it for work there is a veritable feast of remote access apps out there for the home user. It keeps me company on the tube to and from work, allowing me to keep a huge library with me at all times – well over 4000 books now amassed on my iPad. I am never lost for something to read! I have a few TV series and several movies on there as well to keep me happy and entertained when I fancy it.

I even took it on holiday with me when I went to Miami, on a cruise and to LA, taking travel books, language guides and back ups of all my travel documents. The maps I took with were of definite use, and I can safely say I didn’t get lost in Mexico, robbed in Colombia or shot in Costa Rica. I have a fair few games on there as well, and damn they are surprisingly good at filling the hours – although I refuse to play Angry Birds HD simply because I spent too much time completing it on my iPhone. I used free wifi from place to place to call back to the UK, either from skype or using FaceTime… making friends and family envious of the view behind me and my growing tan.

You may be thinking that most of this the original iPad was capable of doing, and in honesty, you are not far of the mark. I took that away with me and it did a lot of this too. But when you are playing one of the intense games that require some real power behind them, the iPad2 transforms itself into a dynamo of a gaming machine. Now that it is using a dual-core A5 chip, the change in speed and power is definitely noticeable. Everything seems faster, even though it appeared fast on the original, it now feels as slow as an old man on a Zimmer frame in comparison. The original also failed when it came to playing HD movie uploaded to it, and now it does this seamlessly, capable of handling .mkv files and larger .avi files.

The camera on the back is good for videos, but awkward to hold and use. I tried to take a few as I went through the Panama Canal but ultimately it was just so bulky it was impractical. Taking photos from it are not that brilliant either given the poor resolution, and they are quite grainy and poorly coloured. The video quality is far superior and if you fancy taking videos and stills from these, then that is much better, but still, you’re better off carrying a camera.

Weight and size are impressive – its unbelievably thin now and feels much lighter. If you’ve ever trekked up the side of a volcano for hours you may begin to notice every single ounce weighing you down! The new covers are definitely one of the aesthetic changes that make it even better – the covers are fantastic. They look good, feel good, and their functionality is superb, a brilliant idea. Sadly, though, the magnetic connectors holding it in place aren’t strong enough and sometimes the cover comes off if you are holding it awkwardly. It also flaps in the breeze and doesn’t pin itself properly to the back of the iPad when folded open flat.

So what do I think after a month? I think it was worth the upgrade. I don’t need my laptop to work, its lighter, faster, more capable and sexier. Should you upgrade? I think if you can, you should. You’ll notice the difference! It is not moving forwards in leaps and bounds technologically, but from a users perspective, it is for the better and in the right direction as everything about it is better – its even white now! Definitely no anti-climax. Perhaps some people just have wild expectations of a company that rarely revolutionise their own products within 1 year of launch?!

With Apple announcing the iPad2 Yesterday, I expect some people are feeling a little bit deflated and cheated? Why I hear you ask? Now before we start, we ARE fans of Apple, we all own or have owned an iPhone in the past 12 months and the odd mac scattered around as well.

This is an honest opinion, not sponsored by HTC and our reasons why we feel a little let down by the green machine:

1. It’s Thinner and Lighter
WOW – Great, now I can nearly fit the thing through a gap in the wall, and I haven’t heard of any stories in the papers about people needing to go to the gym to carry a first generation iPad, it is already small, it is already light. Yes the iPad 2 may fit under a baby penguin’s un-used wing but this is NOT a reason to trade in your existing iPad!

2. Dual Core A5 Processor – Its Fast, Times Two
Another WOW factor – name me an updated model of any piece of equipment in the world that doesn’t get faster? You wouldn’t buy a new laptop, which is ecatly the same yet slower would you? Yes the extra RAM may help memory hungry apps when you have 25 running in the background, but this is NOT a reason to trade in your existing iPad!

3. Two Cameras, Facetime & HD Video
OK, time to be nice, this is goooood! Facetime is quite a laugh but it won’t catch on, Skype is here and has been for a while, we can’t see it catching on as the main way to communicate. The HD video recording is a feather in the cap, but imagine holding up 9 inches to your girlfriends face (ahem)tooooo record a video? Yes it’s slimmer and lighter but it’s hardly a compact camera is it…?

4. iPad Smart Cover
A Concept that has been in use by third parties since the first iPad was released, not a massive jump forward, the magnets are quite a cool edition but it is hardly an essential update and a sticking point for buying is it?

The new OS update will be available for everyone, so that doesn’t matter, the battery life is touted as the same, although we do wonder if this is true? I feel somewhat disappointed from this offering by the Fruit Loops (See what I did there??!!). Call me cynical, but with rumours surrounding Steve Jobs I expected Apple to explode with a raft of new quirks and gadgets built into the tablet. But what it seems it is purely a small upgrade.

We will say this could be a work of genius by Apple, bringing out the iPad 1.5 means the original has already dropped in price to around the $300 mark and is now a perfect entry product into the tablet market. Much like the iPhone 3GS is to the iPhone 4.

We are more excited about the AV connector which means for a poultry $39 you can feed your iPhone4, iPad or 4 gen iPod strait to your TV, yes it will only be in 720 (compared to the iPad2 at 1080) but for us, this is the real jewel in the crown from yesterday.

A cool ploy or a major disappointment? Let us know!

I, like I am sure many others, am forever swapping HDMI cables between my devices so I can plug my laptop in to the TV. Whether for watching films, iPlayer or just some full screen goodness! Two porblems occur, the hassle of changing leads, and the fact I lose my laptop to whatever I have on screen. Well the Veebeam may change all that.

Veebeam HD is a new streaming device that will stream anything from a computer / laptop with a USB port to your television. Although the old Beta model came across a number of teething problems the new release is easy to set up and streams up to 1080p and includes an optical audio output so you can even grab surround sound.

The main advantage we see with the Veebeam is the new ‘Play to’ mode which allows you to stream files from your laptop to your TV without the need to show them on your desktop. Basically this means you are free to work, email, surf the net on your lap, while a film streams in the background on your TV. Pretty nifty huh?

Now like everything, we may have a few drawbacks, for starters you are going to need a pretty heavy duty Mac or PC so get this baby working, tablets and netbooks are a no no from the off. We also hear there is a delay while streaming, so if you find yourself using this for gaming then chances are you are already as dead as a peeled penguin in a frying pan. However films and the like should be fine. We also can’t work out if you can stream things like iPlayer in the ‘Play to’ mode. If you can’t we hope it will be in a future release soon!

Are these show stoppers? Let’s be honest, perhaps. The idea is there but we still have a few stumbling blocks, we are hoping for a review version soon to give you the lowdown and we will get you posted.

You can find more on the product at the official website, Veebeam or you can buy on Amazon now.

Wow, well HTC have gone all out in literally taking over MWC! They have released details of no less than 5 new phones (2 as touted ‘Facebook’ phones) and an HTC tablet in the last 24 hours! Now we are pretty sure you don’t want to read a separate post on them all! If you did then head over to a pure tech site! However what you might want to know is, which one of these new smartphones might be your next phone? We take a took at them all with brief specs:

HTC Flyer Tablet

HTC Flyer Tablet

The HTC Flyer is a 7-inch tablet, and of course based on Android. Backed up by the 1.5GHz Qualcomm single-core processor and Android 2.4 Gingerbread you are sure to get bang for your buck! In a new move, it also includes a battery powered stylus which works for input as well as the expected multi-touch gesture support.

With HTC recently getting involved with OnLive, you can expect streaming gaming, movies and TV. All the goodness is packed into the now flagship unibody aluminium chassis, housing both front and rear cameras as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

iPad beater? Perhaps, although they are slightly different markets with the flyer being at only 7inches. If you had an HDMI out on there we would be in the queue from day 1!

HTC Wildfire S

HTC Wildfire S

HTC’s current entry level smartphone (which Youngsy is actually using at the moment!) has had an upgrade. Nothing to exciting here, running Android 2.4 Gingerbread, the phone is actually smaller with the removal of the optical trackpad and gains a new HVGA screen. Other specs are similar with:

600MHz Qualcomm single-core Processor

512MB RAM and ROM

WiFi b/g/n

Bluetooth 3.0

5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and flash

HTC Desire S

HTC Desire S

When it comes to the new Desire S, the major change comes around it’s looks and feel. The new Desire S is moulded from a single block of aluminium making it feel like pure quality in the hand, and it of course runs the latest Android 2.4 Gingerbread. Apart from that it is pretty much as you were with:

Qualcomm’s single-core 1GHz processor

3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen

5 megapixel rear camera, VGA front and 720p video recording

1.1 GB onboard storage and 768MB of RAM

HTC Incredible S

HTC Incredible S

Europe welcomes the Incredible, and about time to. Bringing the highest specification we have seen on an HTC device in Europe, could this be the first true contender to the iPhone? Featuring:

1GHz Qualcomm single-core processor

8-megapixel autofocus with dual-LED flash camera

Front-facing 1.3-megapixel

1.1GB of onboard storage and 768MB of RAM

HTC ChaCha Facebook Phone

HTC ChaCha Facebook Phone

The ChaCha is the first Facebook phone out in the wild, following months of rumours everything is finally confirmed. The HTC ChaCha features a physical QWERTY keyboard and a 2.6-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. Including a dedicated Facebook button which you can use to instantly share photos, links or anything else.
Also featuring:

600MHz Qualcomm processor

512MB RAM and ROM

5-megapixel camera and front facing VGA

WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS

HTC Salsa Facebook Phone

HTC Salsa Facebook Phone

Salsa is yet another Facebook phone from HTC. Aimed at the younger teen market (though surely all Facebook phones are!?) The HTC Salsa has a similar spec to the ChaCha but without the QWERTY keyboard and features a 3.4 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. Including dedicated buttons again

a 2.6-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. Including a dedicated Facebook button which you can use to instantly share photos, links or anything else.
Also featuring:

600MHz Qualcomm processor

512MB RAM and ROM

5-megapixel camera and front facing VGA

WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS

There we have it, a quick round up of what fell out of the HTC MWC bag, a pretty impressive lineup, we just wish the tablet would have went up against the iPad and been a little bigger rather than an over-sized phone…
