2012 finished with what can only be described as goals galore with an astonishing 35 goals being scored on Saturday and an additional 6 on Sunday. This made 2012 a record breaking calendar year for goals, with more being scored than in any other previous year.

EPL Predictions & Team News 1 – 2 Jan 2013

Even Stoke conceded 3 on Saturday and they seem to be the only team which care about defending these days, 2013 is sure to continue the trend and give us even more viewing pleasure.

WEST BROM V FULHAM – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 12.45 KO

Both teams lost on Saturday and will be looking to immediately bounce back. Only the Manchester clubs have a better home record than West Brom so far this season and I can’t see anything but a win for the Baggies.

Premier League Team News: No new injury worries for either side.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Romelu Lakaku

MANCHESTER CITY V STOKE – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 15.00 KO

An interesting fixture as 2 of the best defences this season go head to head after each conceding 3 at the weekend. Both teams also played and scored with only 10 men on the pitch to take points so confidence will be high. A low scoring game is a distinct possibility but I won’t be surprised if the goals flow again.

Premier League Team News: Nasri and Nzonzi are both suspended following their red cards on Saturday.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: David Silva

SWANSEA V ASTON VILLA – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 15.00 KO

Villa need to start of 2013 with at least a point and build a dam to stem the flow of goals as leaky doesn’t really cover it. It won’t be easy at the Liberty as the ball may be hard to come by for large periods of the game. Swansea will be hoping that Michu recovers from the ankle injury that kept him out against Fulham.

Premier League Team News: Delph returns from suspension for Villa but that is their only good news. Michu may return for the Swans.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Ashley Williams

TOTTENHAM V READING – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 15.00 KO

With 4 points from the last 2 games, Reading will certainly have a bit of confidence going to the lane. If they can keep themselves in the game going into the last 10 minutes they will feel that points are available. Spurs are on a little run themselves with 6 wins from the last 8 and will be looking for another in a game they will be clear favourites. Keeping the pressure on Chelsea and Arsenal who have a game in hand is vital in their quest for a Champions League spot.

Premier League Team News: Reading should remain unchanged from Saturday and Bale is suspended after his 5th yellow of the season (3 for simulation).
Premier League Betting Prediction: 3-0
Dream Team Star Man: Jermain Defoe

WEST HAM V NORWICH – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 15.00 KO

What a difference a week makes, Norwich have gone from being second only to Barcelona with the longest unbeaten run in Europe’s top leagues to 3 defeats on the bounce. When you consider that they were all extremely tight games and the opposition, there is definitely no need for panic in Norfolk. West Ham are also a club in free fall, losing 5 out of their last 7 games after a brilliant start to the season this could be a real cagey affair.

Premier League Team News: Nolan and Collins both miss out through suspension for the Hammers. Norwich will be without the suspended Johnson and both Holt and Morrison are doubts.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-0 (fancy Norwich for the win here after the goals flowed Saturday, Joe!)
Dream Team Star Man: Carlton Cole

WIGAN V MANCHESTER UNITED – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 15.00 KO

Wigan ended a bad run of 3 defeats against a poor Villa side on Saturday and knowing the Latics, no-one would be surprised if they pulled off an upset. United will be expected to win and maintain their gap at the top. RVP had a bit of rest on the weekend and will no doubt be firing from the start.

Premier League Team News: No new worries for either side.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-3
Dream Team Star Man: Michael Carrick

SOUTHAMPTON V ARSENAL – TUESDAY 1 JANUARY 2013 – 17.30 KO

The Saints will be disappointed that they didn’t collect all 3 points at Stoke after such a great start and will be nervous of Arsenal in some goal scoring form. Lambert will cause the Arsenal defence problems and I can’t see Southampton sitting back which will play into Arsenal’s hands. A selection headache for Wenger may be whether to bring Giroud back in after he was just a cross bar away from a substitutes Hat-Trick as his physical presence may be needed.

Premier League Team News: Mertesacker should return from illness for Arsenal.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 0-2
Dream Team Star Man: Theo Walcott

CHELSEA V QPR – WEDNESDAY 2 JANUARY 2013 – 19.45 KO

A hopeless performance against Liverpool for QPR will be extremely worrying for Harry and heading to the bridge won’t make life any easier. Chelsea secured a good win over Everton on Sunday and their confidence will be sky high. Anything else but a win for Chelsea will be astonishing.

Premier League Team News: Cech is out for Chelsea after an injury against Everton.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 3-0
Dream Team Star Man: Juan Mata

LIVERPOOL V SUNDERLAND – WEDNESDAY 2 JANUARY 2013 – 19.45 KO

After a relatively easy game against QPR, the reds will be looking to push on and assemble something of a run against Sunderland who are also struggling for consistency. Reinforcements will be arriving in January to ease some of the burden on Suarez’s shoulders but they should start the year with a win.

Premier League Team News: Enrique may be a doubt after limping off on Sunday.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-1
Dream Team Star Man: Steven Gerrard

NEWCASTLE V EVERTON – WEDNESDAY 2 JANUARY  2013 – 20.00 KO

After conceding 7 against Arsenal on Saturday, Newcastle will need a response and perhaps a shake up as they looked very leggy in the second half. Everton played well against Chelsea and should have had the game out of reach in the first half. Both teams really need a win here but it has draw written all over it.

Premier League Team News: Fellaini is still suspended and Gibson is added to the injury list for Everton.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Steven Pienaar

There we go for the first EPL games of 2013, I will be back after the FA Cup break for yet more games and we can’t wait for a cracking Premiership year!!
