It’s been a while since we featured some football boots here at AJB. But when we were told the one and only Lionel Messi would be stepping out in the all new Adidas F50 Adizero 2013 football boots tonight we thought there may be something a little special.

New adidas F50 Adizero 2013 Football Boots

The latest incarnation of the F50 Adizero is completely centred around a ‘sprint’ theme. Everything marketing is littered with buzzwords like sprintskin, sprintweb and sprintframe – all very modern indeed. After much development with the boffins at adidas and the worlds very best footballer (lets not get into the Messi vs Ronaldo debate now please), Lionel Messi will debut the boots tonight (7th November) in the UCL away to Celtic. Now after Barcelona scraped a 2-1 victory with a 94th minute winner last time out, lets see if Messi’s new boots can teach Celtic a thing or two.

New Adidas F50 Adizero 2013 Football Boots

adidas have designed these to make the wearer as fast as possible – their new slogan is The boot that enables players to ‘Find Fast’. What if I’m not fast in the first place I hear you ask? Well, if you’re a little rotund and not already fast these boots will do… let’s be honest, absolutely nothing for you… (sorry)

Okay back on track, the boots weigh hardly nothing – 165g to be precise. This has been achieved thanks to a 1.5mm thick synthetic layer that is called ‘Sprintskin’ (buzzword #1). Next up is the ‘Sprintweb’ (buzzword #2). A 3D printed texture on the surface of the boot that allows for greater control whilst running at speed. As with previous F50 boots they come with a specially designed cavity for your miCoach Speedcell (buzzword #3) so you can see how little running you actually did on a Sunday morning.

After Messi debuts the boots a raft of pros will be receiving a pair – Dani Alves, Karim Benzema, David Silva and David Villa to name but a few, so if the boots are good then no doubt these guys will make them look pretty decent. And it’s not like you will be able to miss the brand new vivid yellow / black / green zest colour way.

No word on pricing yet but don’t expect much spare change from a cool £200. Are they really worth the money for the average Sunday League player…?
