Nokia Sat-Nav. Ovi-Maps with turn by turn Navigation is now free

Rumours were confirmed today that Nokia has opened up it’s Ovi-Maps to it’s users for free. Ovi-Maps includes voice direction, traffic information, speed camera and limit warnings (the last few only available in certain countries). And if you are on foot you can also expect guided shortcuts through parks etc. in certain cities.

Bearing in mind it is only available on a few select Nokia devices, you may be thinking ‘this is nothing compared to Google’. Well you will be pleased to know it works offline too, which should help on data charges, battery life etc.

Devices Ovi-Maps is currently available on includes; N97 Mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 navigation edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 navigator, 6730 classic and X6. With the N97 coming next week (we hope!)

Using Ovi-Maps? Please let us know what you think in our comments section below.
