Toyota FT-86

Is this the car to bring back the racy image Toyota has been missing the last few years? Well we think it might just be. The FT-86 has just been officially unveiled at this weeks Tokyo Motor Show.

Since partnering with Subaru, unsurprisingly many parts seem to be Subaru based. You can expect the 2L boxer engine, Legacy chassis and modified rear wheel drive. The boxer powerplant pushes out 200BHP, but the star is rumored to be the specially built six-speed manual gearbox which will help you hit 60mph in less than 7 seconds and all the way on to 140mph.
Springs, dampers, brakes and steering will all be up-graded, to help the FT-86 become the sports car Toyota so hope it can be. You can expect it on UK shores in 2012 with prices starting at £25,000.
