Possibly the most eagerly awaited fight in UFC history, certainly one that I remember, and it will all go down in Montreal on Saturday. A classic bad blood fight at UFC 158 that shouldn’t fail to disappoint.

UFC 158

UFC 158 Georges St-Pierre vs Nick Diaz – UFC Welterweight Title Fight

This is the big one, a fight that has been years in the making and has genuine bad blood. Nick Diaz really is a love / hate kind of guy and even annoys Dana White. GSP has won by decision in his last five fights and will be looking to make an example of Diaz. I don’t think a quick knockout would actually make GSP happy; he really wants to dominate Diaz in all areas and then make him quit. Does Diaz really have the tools to beat a great fighter like GSP? Diaz will throw lots of punches but doesn’t possess knockout power and the fight will only go to the ground if GSP allows it. I will be shocked at anything but a dominant performance from the champion.

Prediction: Georges St Pierre via TKO Round 3

Carlos Condit vs Johny Hendricks

The winner of this fight will be extremely interested in the winner of the main event and will almost certainly be next in line for a title shot. Both these fighters are super talented, with Hendricks on a 5 fight win streak and only 1 loss to this name. Condit has already beaten Nick Diaz and many other tough opponents, and has the experience to cope with Hendricks. Hendricks should be able to control where the fight takes place and I feel he will catch Condit at some point and that will be the end.

Prediction: Johny Hendricks via TKO Round 2

Jake Ellenberger vs Nate Marquardt

Sticking with the Welterweight theme, two more fighters who will be looking to push their case for a title shot in the near future. The experience that will be in the Octagon is phenomenal with over 80 fights between them. Marquardt is a huge welterweight but Ellenberger isn’t exactly small and this is yet another really difficult fight to pick. I am swaying towards Ellenberger as he has been up against better quality opponents in the recent past.

Prediction:
Jake Ellenberger via decision

Nick Ring vs Chris Camozzi

I don’t know much about either of these fighters but there should be some well-rounded skills on display, and the possibility of this ending in many different ways. Both fighters have solid stand up and submission skills, so with a bit of luck we will get a stand up war.

Prediction:
Chris Camozzi via TKO Round 2

Mike Ricci vs Colin Fletcher

The Martian vs The Freakshow, some very interesting nicknames there but if you take a look at one of the press shots, perhaps there is some substance behind them. Colin Fletcher is from Sunderland and is looking for his first win inside the octagon after a loss on debut. The UFC website lists Fletcher’s strengths as “unpredictable” and I’m not really sure if that is a good or bad thing! I think we can expect a pretty fast paced fight here, and I think the Canadian might just take it with the home support.

Prediction: Mike Ricci via TKO Round 3

Other none Main Event Fights:

Patrick Cote vs Bobby Voelker – Bobby Voelker via TKO Round 1
Antonio Carvalho vs Darren Elkins – Antonio Carvalho via Decision
Dan Miller vs Jordan Mein – Dan Miller via Submission Round 1
John Makdessi vs Daron Cruickshank – Daron Cruickshank via TKO Round 2
Rick Story vs Quinn Mulhern – Rick Story via TKO Round 1
TJ Dillashaw vs Issei Tamura – TJ Dillashaw via Decision
George Roop vs Reuben Duran – Reuben Duran via TKO Round 1

There we have it my predictions. No doubt you will agree or disagree so hit us up in the comments below. Be sure to tune in to UFC 158, as this should be an absolute classic!
